Planetary Alignments and “What Up With That?”
The Astrological community is buzzing with the planetary alignments in August 2010 because the energies of the planets involved mean major changes are coming. These changes will alter our world, our society, friends, family, and personally. If you are a flexible person these changes will affect you and be taken in stride, but, if you have a tendency to resist change you might find yourself using an expression from a new skit from “Saturday Night Live” entitled, “What up with that?”
The skit, performed by Kenan Thompson, is a metaphor for the irony of the changes coming to us all. It is a funny skit with Kenan, not paying any real attention to the other members of the skit, and the others appearing bewildered as to why they are there. Kenan is more concerned with singing and creating attention to his song and him. The planets are not paying any attention to us. They are moving on with or without us. We can be bewildered but the cosmos is moving in its’ own direction.
The old order in our lives is under going changes that we have no control of and the new reality of our environment is a little scary. Some of us meet change with relief but others will do everything they can to keep the status quo. The radical changes will take some of us by surprise and cause us to exclaim, “What up with that?” These changes are coming out of no where and change our reality of life.
We see these changes in our world, country, friends, family, and personally. The planetary “grand cross” between Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto represent these major changes we are witnessing. The old world (represented by Saturn) is trying to control radical change (represented by Uranus) and transformation is occurring everywhere. Transformation is represented by the (almost planet) Pluto. These planets are in the cardinal signs of Aires, Libra, and Capricorn meaning movement is going to happen and there is no stopping it. Changes cannot be stopped but our old patterns will not go away easily so we have to be patient and take a moment to pause and reflect.
Everything is changing in our world at the most rapid rate ever. Social patterns, financial planning, politics, and a general change in point of view are in flux. How many people do you know that have had a life altering event in the past two years? This may include you. Life was one way one day and completely different the next day. It takes time to reflect and absorb the new reality we face. The cosmos is not giving us a choice to make changes. Those that resist face a reality of change or leave the planet. This is how radical we find the times.
Changing or leaving the planet is not fatalistic to a metaphysical or spiritual person because it simply means we will change the dimension we will be experiencing. We will have learned as many lessons as we could in this reality and will start reflecting on those lessons. The people remaining will take mankind to another place never experienced. Ultimately, the changes will be good.
Many people want to know the solution to dealing with the new reality and here is “a” prescription. Keep your value system and realize it is simply being tested. If your value system is sound it will withstand the pressures of change but, if it is not, then you must be willing to adjust. You will survive but life is going to test you in every area at this time.
The Saturday Night Live skit is a metaphor of people realizing they are in the midst of a shift that they have no control. Kenan Thompson has responded to the universal mind prompting us to notice. He has created a slogan for this era that is ingenious, comical, reflective, and transformational. “What up with that?” is our wake up call. The answer to the question is within you. Are you willing to make changes or not?
