During this “Year of the Angel” I have discussed the qualities of many Archangels and talked about some of the favorite attributes of them. This month, I wanted to talk about the angel that might just be the closest to you in your life. This angel is your personal guardian angel. These angels often go unheralded until they show up in the nick of time to save us from unspeakable harm. Guardian angels are there for us throughout our lives but are often unrecognized because they are humble and meek.
While other angels are known for their dynamic personalities and powerful energy, the guardian angel stands next to us without any fanfare. They remain with us during the good times and the times when we might want to forget. These angels do not judge us, and their loyalty is unconditional. Although guardian angels are considered to be low ranked, in the ninth order of the hierarchy of angels, they are the first to be with us. We often notice our guardian angel when we are children.
Children may be the most open to recognizing spirits and angels. I know that one of my first experiences with spirit was seeing an angel hovering over me as a child. It was at this time that I thought it was perfectly normal to see spirits that were around me. Most children who see angels and spirits are not afraid of them because they know they are not there to harm them.
When we grow up and our minds become cluttered with responsibilities, we stop noticing the entities that once were common around us. The need to pay more attention to the physical world is one of the reasons that we seem to lose sight of those in spirit, but spirits seem to reappear to us later in life when we least expect it. Our guardian angel may be one that suddenly comes back into our life. The reality is that they have never left us. We simply did not know it.
Sometimes, guardian angels reappear to people who have near death experiences. Many people recount that they knew they were facing a very dangerous situation when suddenly they were rescued. The incident is considered a miracle to the person saved, but it might not be that at all. It may have simply been their guardian angel who gently intervened and made the difference in a life or death situation.
Guardian angels do not prevent all accidents or death to occur. If we have lessons to learn or it is our time to return to the spirit world, they do not stand in the way. It is not their decision to save or not to save. They are charged with carrying out the Will of the Creator without question. These angels use their immense power to serve man and to glorify God.
We can learn many lessons from the guardian angels by acknowledging them and their watchful behavior. They are loyal, vigilant, and serve us without hesitancy. They are always with us. There are more powerful angels in the angel hierarchy, but none so close or so personal to us than them. When you see your guardian angel, you might whisper, “Thank you!”
